How Lock Doctor Smith handles your information when you ring, email, or use this website. Plain English, no small print.

Who we are

Lock Doctor Smith is a locksmith business run by Brian Smith from Tullygrimes, Co. Monaghan, Ireland. For anything to do with your information, contact Brian at BSmith@lockdoctorsmith.ie or on +353 86 363 3383.

What we collect when you contact us

This website has no forms and no accounts. The only information we receive from you is what you give us when you phone or email, which is usually:

  • your name and phone number or email address;
  • the address where the work is needed;
  • what the problem is and what you'd like done.

For a lockout, Brian may also ask for proof that you are entitled to enter the property. That is normal locksmith practice and is for your protection as much as anyone's.

How we use it

We use your details to give you a quote, arrange the visit, carry out the work and keep a record of it, including invoices. We don't use your information for marketing and we never sell it.

In legal terms, we process your information because it's needed to carry out the work you've asked for, because we have a legitimate interest in keeping proper business records and in checking that a lockout is genuine, and because the law requires us to keep accounting records.

How long we keep it

Records of work done, including invoices, are kept for as long as Irish tax law requires, which is normally six years. Anything else is deleted once it's no longer needed.

Who we share it with

Nobody, apart from the people who help run the business, such as an accountant, and only as far as they need it. We would share information with the Gardaí or another authority if the law required it.

This website

Loading this site involves a few outside services. Each of them receives your device's IP address and basic browser details when the page loads, as any website you visit does:

  • Vercel hosts the site and may keep short-term server logs for security.
  • Mapbox provides the maps. It also collects anonymised statistics about how the map is used.
  • Google Fonts provides the lettering.
  • Cloudflare (cdnjs) and jsDelivr deliver the small scripts that run the page's animations.

If you choose "Open in Google Maps", you leave this site and Google's own privacy policy applies.

Cookies

This site does not set tracking, advertising or analytics cookies. When you dismiss the cookie notice, your browser remembers that choice on your own device so you aren't asked again; nothing is sent to us. Mapbox may store a small amount of data in your browser for the anonymised map statistics mentioned above.

Your rights

Under data protection law you can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to limit how we use it, or object to our using it. Just email or ring Brian. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with the date updated at the top.
